The Tenterfield Garden Shop started life as a place for pots, plants and seeds, and grew a coffee shop in the middle of it. Today it’s three things at once: a café, a boutique, and a garden you can sit in.

The café

Breakfast, lunch and a proper coffee

Pull up an antique chair under the pendant lamps, or take a table out among the plants. Breakfast and lunch are served whenever the doors are open, with cakes under glass on the counter and the coffee board up by the register.

It’s the small touches people remember: real butter in a little dish with your raisin toast, and real cream alongside the cake.

“A beautiful garden cafe with great coffee & a lovely menu.”

The shop

Vintage finds and things for the home

Between the tables you’ll find a lifestyle boutique: vintage and antique pieces, homewares, clothing and gifts, alongside floral ceramics and botanical body care on the shelves.

And because this is still the garden shop, there are pots, plants and seeds too. Easy to leave with something green under your arm.

The garden

Coffee under the climbing roses

Out the back, a paved path runs beneath timber pergolas heavy with yellow roses, past urns, potted conifers and bistro tables. Bring your cup outside and sit a while.

Look for the hanging baskets

Flowers spilling from the window, olive trees in pots and timber benches with linen cushions out on the footpath. Stop for a coffee on your way through town.

Excellent! Have only been once so far, since it became a coffee shop, and was highly delighted to be served with attention to detail like real butter in a little dish to spread on my raison toast. My friend had cake and she said it was delicious, plus it was served with real cream. We sat by the cosy fireplace on a cold Winters day. Charming! Keep up the awesome standards guys! Will be back soon.

The hype on Instagram about this place is completely justified. From the stylish front to the comfortable cafe, it exudes an evocative sense of home, filled with some well found and displayed antique and vintage collectables. But, this place ices the cake with the most genuinely friendly service. Don't drive past Tenterfield. It's absolutely beautiful here.
